About me

          For my sustained investigation I have chosen to focus on the little moments of childhood, highlighting each little memory with color I add after printing. Moreover, I chose the medium of printmaking, specifically linoleum printmaking, to help reinforce the idea of remembering little memories or moments from childhood through repetition. The repetitive process of printmaking allows myself to continuously recreate a certain memory I am focusing on in a print.

Some questions I get asked is how I pick certain memories to focus on in an image. To answer this, the parts in color of my prints either represent an object (clothes, food, toys, eyes), or a landscape, and are chosen based on how significant they were in my childhood. For most of my prints I have highlighted the clothes I was wearing because dressing up was one of my favorite activities. Another example is my favorite doll Sophie getting put in color. All of these aspects of the picture that are all in color signify either a universal memory that connects to a broader audience or just specific to my childhood.

          I have been doing art my whole life, and getting to do it now as a senior who is preserving these little memories from my childhood is very special and meaningful to me.
